::Thou Shall Covet:: Vintage Doors

Flann recently bought a beautiful home outside of Chicago.  I'm having major house jealousy being that I am currently in a two bedroom condo with a husband, two little boys & a dog. ;)  So, let's just say that instead of being jealous...I'm living vicariously through her.  Sound good?

Anyway...Flann found this a-ma-zing old (barn?) door in her basement which the previous owners left behind.  She posted this picture on Instagram and the wheels immediately started turning.

She hit the jackpot, don't you think?!

  Check out the (original?) paperwork:

And the knob (swoon!):

Flann posed the question, "What should I do with it?"

I couldn't send her my ideas fast enough - I was so jealous excited!

One, use it as a headboard.  Maybe for one of the girl's beds?

OR two, use it as a sliding door (my personal favorite!):

So, dear readers, which idea is your favorite?!  Or do you have another idea for Flannery?!  We want to hear what you think!

::Thou Shall Covet:: Watercolor

I'm so inspired by all of the watercolor that is popping up these days.  Despite what my mother what might tell you (she still has my self portrait from 7th grade), I am by no means, an artist.  I think that's what I like about watercolor - it's perfectly imperfect.  Anything goes.  So, I think I might try my hand at painting a watercolor for my soon-to-be gallery wall.   But in the meantime, here's what I'm coveting...

::Though Shall Covet Gray::

yes, it's winter
and gray days can give a girl the blahs
but i'm kind of liking all the gray stuff
that's popping up these days.

i think gray might be the new beige.

and f.y.i
if you're like me
and not sure how to spell the word,
here's a tip:

grAy is how it's spelled in America

grEy is how it's spelled in England

{courtesy of greyorgray.com}

anyhoo, i started thinking about gray
after i made this sunshine shirt.
i made it to match this precious bow~
by LexaMae Fancies n Frills.
and it got me thinking that i've seen a lot of gray recently.

Apartment Therapy approves of all things gray.
In fact, they say,

"Gray is a hot color right now, from darkest charcoal to palest smoke. And while trends come and go, gray has perennially been a good choice for the bedroom, its quiet, calming, restful and beautiful in a classic way that works equally well with both masculine and feminine leaning decor."

so let's take a gander at all the
gray out there these days.

This bedroom would be a soothing place
to unwind after a long day.

even with a burst of yellow,
this room is still calm and peaceful.
perfect for a bedroom.
those pillows and and coverlet can be switched
out at anytime for a fresh updated look
without having to change the paint.

if you're redoing a bedroom,
a headboard like this can be your anchor piece.

whoa, can you tell i'm liking the gray and yellow?

let's switch it up a bit, shall we?

and a post wouldn't be complete without
some fabric love.
uses gray in her lines of fabric
and i adore it!
her blog is precious
go check it out!

even the celebs are getting in on the trend
wish i'd looked that awesome when
i was pregnant.

what do you think? are you a fan of the grays? or the greys?
or do want to wash that gray right out of your hair?
head over to apartment therapy.
they've already compiled a list of
grays that are just perfect.

::Thou Shall Covet: BURLAP!::

Hello everyone! This is my sheepish re-entry into the blogging hemisphere. After a fall of overwhelming, time (and emotionally) intensive events in my personal life, it is back to the creative life. I hope, anyway! I'm tip toeing my way back, one tippy toe at a time. ;>)

So with that said, Molly's placemats have our creative minds spinning: Burlap. Burlap. Burlap. It's everywhere. Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Ballard Designs, Etsy, Blogging Tutes. It's versatile, it's stylish, it's vintage and modern all at the same time. It's a wonderful neutral to build a room around. So here are some finds for you. And if you have some burlap tutes that you consider a *must* please let us know in the comments. Who knows, maybe a burlap linky party is in our future?

There are tons of burlap wreath tutorials out there.  I like the simplicity of this ruffle.  You could add different adornments for different holidays & seasons!

I love, love, love this!  Especially because with a little creativity, you could make your own!

I adore these baskets from Pottery Barn.  What's more to say?  They are a perfect stylish neutral way to store, don't you agree?

There are *tons* of burlap lampshades out there for table lamps and what not.  Look on Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs or google for an easy tutorial on how to do it yourself. Want something a little different, though? Here is Restoration Hardware's pendant lamp--wouldn't that be awesome in your house?

It is the holidays--go crazy with burlap stockings, pillows....AND a ruffled tree skirt?!  This would be perfect for my beachcottagethatsinmyhead house.

Must.have.this.now.  It would be perfect on the sweet child-sized bench on my front step.  Visitors would be lost no more!  But seriously, I thought it was a really creative take on all of the burlap pillows out there.  And there are a ton.  Clearly for a reason--'cause they are so darn cute!

This is way cuter than a regular old bulletin board.  And oh my gosh, picture your Christmas cards up there!

Wow.  So my obsession for the newly remodeled kitchen in my head used to be school house lamps above my butcher block island.  And now it is this.  Ballard just does this stuff so well, don't they?  *LOVE* this pendant lamp with the burlap shade.  It's much more conservative then the RH dome lamp up top, but still so fun.  I will have it, I will.

And because we love our sponsor, the Online Fabric Store, I have to share that burlap is as  low as $.96/yard over there!

So thanks for playing folks.  And thanks MollyandCourtenay loyal blog readers for letting me come back to blog!  Amidst all of the craziness of family life, I missed my creative outlet and I missed playing my sisters.

Thou Shall Covet: Houndstooth

I'm loving ALL things houndstooth these days.  There's something very Mad Men about it.
My houndstooth obsession might have started when my friend purchased this rug for her living room from Garnet Hill.  Isn't it beautiful?

And in my search for baby TOMS for Coleman, I accidentally found these for myself:

Not convinced?  Let's take another look...

In another online search - this time for a winter hat & mittens for Coleman, I came across this adorable set (made by Columbia):

If you are throwing a party, I love these houndstooth poms (PomLove on Etsy).  They would be perfect for a cocktail party, a "Stock The Bar" shower or a even a baby's nursery.

I love wearing scarves (especially infinity scarves)...they make the easiest accessory.
I love the colors in this houndstooth scarf...perfect for fall/winter...AND it's only $15!

Let me know if you find any other fun houndstooth items!  Hmmmm, I wonder if there's a houndstooth stencil out there somewhere.  ;)  I'm off to drink my tea & watch The Today Show - Kim Kardashian is hosting...and she's wearing a GORGEOUS houndstooth dress!

Happy Friday!
