:: GIVEAWAY :: & Interview With The Stationery Sisters

::HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU::
In honor of Valentine's Day, we're having another GIVEAWAY!

One of the best things about starting our blog and an Etsy business has been getting to "meet" other creative women.  I recently stumbled upon an amazing new Etsy shop and I have to admit, the name immediately caught my eye: The Stationery Sisters.  And when I started browsing, I saw this lovely print and thought, "We should be friends with these sisters!"  Take a look at their stuff:

Wouldn't this look perfect hanging in our studio!?

So who ARE The Stationery Sisters?

I (Dalia) was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.  I went to school and got my Bachelors Degree in Marketing. Then, I met this wonderful man and we got married!  Shortly after, we moved to Houston, Texas. After two years, we had our little girl.  Life is good.  I love to cook, I’m an absolute foodie!  I work full time so I try to balance spending time with my daughter and husband, while still doing enough around the house.

The Stationery Sisters began when my sister and I were thinking up a idea to help us start a stationery business. My sister, Magdoline, actually came up with the name and she helps with the creative process. But, because she is very busy with her own business (www.addictedtosoap.com). I deal with The Stationery Sisters mostly. While we don't do stationery just yet, we did want something related to a paper product that is art.

How did your love affair with all things paper begin?

Since I was young I had a love for drawing. As I progressed in school, I slowly started to notice I didn’t have time for my passion of drawing. But, I always noticed that when I walk into a paper goods store I can stay their hours. I love the feel of paper, the smell and just to stare at it all day long. I knew not everyone had the same passion as me, but I thought I can do digital art of paper to incorporate them into peoples lives.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Everyday life. Inspiration comes from everywhere. It can come from something I see on TV and then I’ll jump to my computer and start creating. Or it can be from a color palette or as simple as one of the blogs I follow. I also have an obsession with fonts and think of them as art, so I incorporate a lot of that into my work.

What can we find in The Stationery Sisters Etsy store?

Currently, I have the most adorable collection named "Peace & Love".
I also do a children's collection for birth announcements and such. Very soon I will be putting up a collection of motivational prints, so be sure to keep your eyes open!

Where do you see your business in 5, 10 years?

I see myself selling a full line of stationery and greeting cards. I also want to be sucessful enough to quit my full time job. But if not, I still will be very happy combining my two loves, art and paper.

Can we get a little "sneak peak" or preview of what you are currently working on?

I can't officially show you anything that might make you raise an eyebrow, but I can tell you that I'm trying to create motivational art that speaks to people. I want them in people’s lives, in their homes and in their hearts. I want my prints to leave my hands and into the hands of someone who would give it a nice home and in return, that home would give it character.
