::New in the Studio::

My sewing machines are staying busy these days.  I actually have both of them set up and use them all the time.  My old school Bernina 1008, which I call the 'work horse', is mostly for quilting projects.  The walking foot stays on it as does the white thread.  My newer Bernina 215 model is used for the smaller projects, especially the appliques and burp cloths.  The needle down feature of the 215 is a must for those.

Another reason for keeping the two machines in use?  My girl can sew next to me.  Can I just tell you how much I love that?  She made her own initial bag and learned how to use the zig zag stitch around the edge of the applique.

While waiting for my help in finishing her bag, she absently-mindedly doodled a cat and we turned it into an applique for the back of the bag.

A picture of our NYE celebration.  The three of us met up in North Carolina with family for a couple days and it was awesome.  How can you not have fun with all these kiddos?

in order from left to right:
Maeve 5
Coleman 2
Sarah 5 (a cousin)
Eleanor 7
Bridget 9
Phoebe 2 (a cousin)
Colleen 11
Mary Larkin 5
Ginger 2
and baby Eamonn, 7 mos, was already fast asleep.

It was a fun night of s'mores and a countdown at 8pm.  My kinda night!

picmonkey skillz.

i love the baby gift sets.
just sweet as pie.

my sis-in-laws just placed two orders:

aren't finding out the sex of their lil' bambino.
and the second set is for a girl with
a preppy momma who loves
polka dots.

tomorrow is thursday.
remember what's been goin' on 'round
here on thursdays?
and
oh and this one too.

are you getting as sick of my face as i am?
are you hoping flannery or molly post their
pretty faces tomorrow?
i am.
sisterz, do you hear me?
i know you have pictures.
i've seen them in instagram.
you've sent them in text messages.
it's time.

and call it a day.

{{edited to add: it's after midnight.

Newborn Momento Shadowbox

I recently had baby boy #2!  If you're like me, you like to keep little momentos from important events in your life all while avoiding CLUTTER!  I created these shadowboxes for each of the boys to display in the nursery.  This project would also be great for a wedding, engagement, prom or any other exciting event that you want to remember!

What you need:
Shadowbox (I got mine from Target. You can find them at craft stores too!)
Double sided tape or pins
Momentos

I like this shadowbox from Target because it has black felt as the background.  Other shadowboxes have plain cardboard, which means more work for me!

Momentos I used:  hospital ID bracelets for Mommy, Daddy & Baby, footprints, card from hospital bassinet, hat from hospital, pictures

I hope the boys appreciate these little keepsakes when they get older & we tell them about the day they were born!

::New in The Studio::

i always want to preface my posts by saying,
"it looks better in person"
because my pictures are always so dang dark
and don't do justice to whatever I've made, IMHO.

i have no time for editing pictures though.
it's one of those things that i loathe
and procrastinate and find so difficult.

blah, blah, blah.
i'd much rather be sewing
or reading Hunger Games.

between the two, i'm seriously lacking in sleep.
i mean, hello? who's it gonna be? Gale or Peeta?

anywhoo,
in like a lamb and out like a lamb
and all things i make these days are
inspired by spring.
dare i say winter is o-v-e-r
in the keystone state?
the mission:
*gender neutral (mama-to-be doesn't know the sex)
*preppy style ('cause the mama is preppy)
*baby due May 25th.
how'd i do?
hard to tell with these lousy pictures, ain't it?
1. yellow gingham with strips of 'washi tape'
2. blue polka dots with hand embroidered banner
3. classic green and blue with hand embroidered 'baby'
this set is headed to Chicago.
thanks to all our lovely facebook friends who commented yesterday.
merci beaucoup! i really appreciated your feedback.

next up:
baby gift set that i like to call:
lemonade
i just love this bright pink and bright yellow together.
reminds me of...
you guessed it~
pink and yellow lemonade.
this set is headed to Massachusetts
for a new baby girl.

as my niece would say, "i lub it."

happy monday, lambs!
